General Office Operation and safety during COVID-19

To Our Valued Patients,

We hope you are all doing well and are healthy. We have missed seeing you and caring for your Dermatological, Cosmetic and Surgical Health Care over the past six weeks. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us at CDV are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to patient and staff safety.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the State of Michigan, Oakland and Wayne counties (respectively).  CDV has incorporated guidance from US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American Academy of Dermatology and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued.

Prior to the expiration of the May 15th shelter in place, CDV has begun testing patient in office and telehealth visits in a staged method in our best efforts for patient and staff safety.

Additional measures have been taken to protect both patients and staff including:

  1. Commercial-Medical disinfecting of our offices reducing 99.9% of bacteria and viruses (proven effective against several coronavirus variants) on every exposed surface in our facility, including salmonella and E. coli, common viruses like the cold and flu, and disinfectant-resistant pathogens like MRSA which has been found effective for up to 6 months.

  2. Viral filters to the HVAC units

  3. Individual HEPA air filters in each exam rooms

  4. Steam sanitizing of carpets of exam rooms at the end of or prior to each patient day.

  5. Surfaces, door handles, counter tops contacted by staff or patients will be disinfected between patients.

  6. Our waiting room has been modified to allow for social distancing when more than one patient is present.

  7. All staff members will be screened and required to take their own temperature prior to starting a new shift.

In order to keep you safe, there will be new protocols in place to protect both patients and staff.

Before you arrive for your appointment, you will be contacted by our office and asked a few COVID-19 related screening questions, remind you of State and local requirements of appropriate facial covering  and to take your temperature prior to your appointment.
You may be asked to go to our website and update your health history, HIPPA consent form and insurance.
When you arrive, you will be asked to remain in your car and call the office:

734 282-7266 in Riverview

248 690-7243 in Lake Orion

Staff will confirm COVID screen, temperature and appropriate facial covering.

We reserve the right to check temperature, and defer treatment for safety of fellow patients and staff until Medically cleared.

Once inside, a staff member will direct you directly to an exam room and you may be asked to don a mask which we will provide.

Please do not bring additional family members or companions. Only those patients requiring assistance (children, special needs, elderly) will be allowed a companion and they too will be screened.

Here are some changes we are implementing to ensure your safety:

We understand that this is different and may be an inconvenience to everyone and we will try to make your appointment go as quickly and as smoothly as possible. Your patience will be greatly appreciated during these times.
This, unfortunately, may be the new normal. Ultimately, your health and medical care are our highest concerns and we will strive to give you the best of both.
Thank you for being our patient. We value trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.
